  • 28 November 2007 Sydney: Twice in 4 months! QuikTrak is again being praised by the owner of earthmoving equipment after quik action saved a John Deere tractor from theft. Only a few short months ago, an attempt was made to steal the owner's bobcat which was also thwarted by QuikTrak. In this case. an alarm was received from the machine at around 1:50 am. The owner was immediately contacted and confirmed that nobody should be using the machine. Police were contacted and attended the scene. Police found that the machine had been broken into and the ignition switch had been tampered with in an attempt to start the machine. It seems the offender(s) had fled without completing their crime due to the alarm sounding or the Police arrival.

  • 24 October 2007 Sydney: While the owner of a 2004 FPV Typhoon was overseas enjoying a holiday, offenders broke into his home and stole the keys to the vehicle and a significant amount of property. Once the burglary was discovered (by a relative of the owner) QuikTrak were notified and immediately commenced recovery procedures. The car was located moving through a number of suburbs including Wentworthville, Westmead, May Hills, Parramatta and Greystanes before being intercepted by Police at the intersection of Cumberland Highway and the M4 Motorway in Wentworthville at about 7:20pm

The offenders resisted Police and one shot was fired, by Police. Three juvenile offenders (2 aged 17 and 1 aged 16) were arrested at the scene. A search revealed property linking the car to a number of other burglaries, including one where another vehicle (Holden Commodore) was also stolen. The offenders have each been charged with one count of "being carried in, or driving, a stolen motor vehicle", and 9 x counts of "Aggravated Break and Enter". Each of the offenders is facing further potential charges relating to 10 more aggravated Break and Enter (i.e. These matters are the subject of further enquiries at the time of preparing this report).

The Detective in charge of the prosecution said "We would never have got these offenders if it hadn’t been for your product." All of the stolen property was retrieved, undamaged - most importantly an item of jewellery, of significant sentimental value was returned to a grateful owner. "We would never own a car like this without a QuikTrak system. You have to have one if you own a car like this", said the owner afterward. The owners are now installing a QuikTrak (SAS) home security alarm system to avoid being a repeat victim.

Interestingly the owner was holidaying with friends, 3 of whom are Police Officers, one of whom is the commander for the area in which this incident occurred. All are very impressed with the outcome as a result of the QuikTrak system. Other property found in the recovered car included, an LCD television, computers, cameras, clothes and 21 stolen firearms.
